General Questions
Do you offer installation services?
Yes. All installations are performed by our certified in-house FU technicians — never subcontracted. We handle gas, wood, electric, ethanol, and outdoor installations.
Do you serve regions outside Montréal?
We serve Greater Montréal, Laval, the North Shore, the South Shore, Tremblant, Magog, and surrounding regions.
Can I buy all fireplaces online?
No. Only electric and ethanol fireplaces can be purchased online. Gas and wood models require an in-showroom consultation and certified installation.
Electric Fireplaces
What are the differences between holographic, steam, and LED electric fireplaces?
Holographic units offer the most realistic flame effect. Steam fireplaces use water vapor to create a 3D flame. Standard LED “Reflections” models provide realistic visuals with easier installation.
Do electric fireplaces produce heat?
Yes. Most electric models offer supplemental heat (typically 4,000–5,000 BTU). Some advanced models offer stronger output.
Can I install an electric fireplace myself?
Yes. Electric fireplaces require no chimney or gas line. Basic models plug into a standard outlet; others may require a dedicated electrical line.
Gas Fireplaces
What type of venting do gas fireplaces require?
Most models need direct venting or power venting. Our team will evaluate your home’s layout, clearance requirements, and exterior wall access.
How much heat does a gas fireplace produce?
Depending on the model, gas fireplaces typically produce 15,000 to 35,000 BTU or more. The right choice depends on your room size and insulation.
My remote isn’t working — what should I do?
Check the batteries, confirm the receiver is switched on, and ensure there are no obstructions. If the issue continues, our team can help diagnose it.
My gas fireplace won’t turn off — what does that mean?
This may be caused by a faulty remote receiver or wall switch. Contact our service department for a safety check.
Wood Fireplaces & Stoves
Are wood fireplaces still allowed in Montréal?
Yes, but they must meet EPA or equivalent clean-burn certification standards. All the wood models we offer comply with these regulations.
Do wood fireplaces provide good heat?
Absolutely. Wood-burning fireplaces and stoves offer powerful, natural heat ideal for chalets, cottages, or larger homes.
Do I need a chimney?
Yes. Wood-burning units require a proper insulated chimney system. Our technicians can evaluate your project and recommend the right setup.
Ethanol Fireplaces
Do ethanol fireplaces produce real flames?
Yes. Ethanol fireplaces produce natural, clean-burning flames without smoke or soot.
Do ethanol fireplaces require venting?
No. Ethanol fireplaces do not require a chimney or vent, making them ideal for condos or modern interiors.
Outdoor Fireplaces & Burners
Can outdoor burners be used in winter?
Yes. Many outdoor burners and fireplaces are built from stainless steel and weather-resistant components suitable for Canadian winters.
Do outdoor fire pits require professional installation?
Gas and propane units require proper gas line installation and safety checks. Electric and ethanol units are simpler to install.
Installation & Project Planning
What do I need before choosing a fireplace?
For the best recommendations, we typically ask for:
- A photo of the interior wall
- A photo of the exterior wall behind it
- Your home type
- Renovation or new construction details
How long does installation take?
This depends on the model and project. Electric units take minutes; gas and wood installations require framing, venting, and finishing work.
Do you handle framing and finishing?
We can coordinate framing, venting, electrical, and finishing needs based on the project. During your consultation, we’ll outline what’s required.
Service & Maintenance
Do gas fireplaces need annual maintenance?
Yes. An annual inspection is recommended to ensure safe performance, clean burners, and proper ignition.
Do you offer repairs?
Yes. Our certified technicians service and repair most gas, wood, and electric fireplace models.
