what is an insert?
A fireplace is a complete appliance or built-in firebox designed for a new installation.
An insert is designed to upgrade an existing fireplace opening (masonry), improving performance and giving your fireplace a refreshed, modern look — without rebuilding the entire structure.
Why choose an insert?
Not sure which type fits your situation?
Choose the insert technology below (Gas / Electric / Wood) — our FU experts can help you validate sizing, compatibility, and installation requirements before you move forward.
Gas inserts
Ideal for upgrading an existing fireplace with reliable heat, modern control, and a clean day-to-day experience.
Wood inserts
For the real wood fire experience — strong heat, timeless atmosphere, and a traditional feel when the installation conditions allow.
Electric inserts
A great option for modern interiors: clean look, low maintenance, and strong visual impact with simple installation constraints.
We’ll guide you based on your constraints (chimney, venting, room size, design goals) and recommend the right insert solution.
